Radon Conversions

Picocuries per liter (pCi/l) is used to measure the amount of Radon in the air.

Working Levels (WL) is used to determine the amount of daughter atoms present, representing the risk of lung damage. One working level is the maximum occupational level for workers in radioactive environments.

Working Level Months (WLM) is used to express the cumulative exposure to radon daughters. The WLM is a product of the average rate of exposure in working levels and the number of 170-hr work months of exposure.

1 pCi/l @ 18000 radon atoms/liter @ 2.2 radon atoms decaying a minute/liter

1 WL @ 200 pCi/l For example, 22WL @ 4,400 pCi/l
