Part I Tools: Probable causes of the five incidents

This section of the report should be divided into 5 parts - one for each incident.  Each part should include:

  • Information on connection of observations of the symptoms of the animals to exposure to lead;
  • Information on human/animal activities and environmental conditions connecting exposure to lead to the observed symptoms;
  • Analysis of the geographic information supporting the exposure;
  • Analysis of the available data (soil, blood, dust, water, sediment etc.) supporting the exposure; and
  • Conclusions about probable cause
A retriever puppy who stopped playing, became lethargic, disoriented, and developed diarrhea after digging many holes in the yard of an old farm house;
A pet rabbit stopped eating, became very irritable and had trouble hopping on both legs during the renovation;
A pair of dead swans found in a lake at a fishing, hunting, and skeet shooting club;
A cat unable to stand upright after giving birth to six kittens at the Ramalives Battery Recycling Company and lead smelter;
A fish kill in the local creek near the old Ramford County Municipal Garage.
