Labeling of Certified Organic and Transitional Organic Produce

Certified/Transitional Organic

a. Only products grown on “Certified Organic” fields may be described or sold as certified organic.  Product grown on “Transitional Organic” fields may only be advertised or sold as “Certified Transitional Organic”.

b. All product grown on “Transitional Organic” fields must be clearly labeled as such in advertisements, store signage, labeling and invoices.  “Transitional Organic” produce must be clearly separated from “Certified Organic” produce in all harvest, storage and processing operations to ensure that it is always clearly identifiable.

c.  “Transitional Organic” may be combined with “Certified Organic” product provided the resulting lot is labeled and/or sold as “Transitional Organic.”
