The activities will center around:
  • gathering specific information or data from other sources and/or collected locally;
  • calculations and analyses;
  • discussion;
  • syntheses;
  • conclusions;
  • recommendations for future actions and research;
    and
  • presentation of a final report.

The TIES Project will structure all inquiry activities in the "Web-Quest" format which will ensure continuity within the activities associated with a chemical of concern and allow seamless transfer when examining another chemical. This format has been designed by B. Dodge and is being used successfully in curriculum activities of the MSET Program at Ramapo. A general description is attached, additional detail can be found at on the Web by clicking here

 The six elements of a "Web-Quest":

  • Introduction,
  • Task,
  • Process,
  • Resources,
  • Evaluation,
    and
  • Conclusion

provide a stable framework for the organization of the given inquiry including the assessment. Each element of the "Quest" can be treated with varying complexity; therefore, teachers can utilize the same format when working on TIES with their students.

Each chemical to be studied in TIES will be the subject of two "Web-Quests".
