| 1. Turn the theme on and make the theme active.
(Make sure it is checked and raised.)
2. Click on the Query button 3. In the box that appears click on Update Values. If it NOT checked off, you MUST do this before you do anything else. 4. Fields will appear on the left side of the box. Scroll down until you see the heading you want. (i.e. Fname or Names). 5. Double click on Fname. This will not appear in the white rectangular box. Double click on Fname again. 6. Double click = in the box next to fields. 7. Values will be on the right side fo the box. Scroll down until you find the road name you want. 8. Double click on that name and it will appear in the white box. 9. Click New Set . WAIT. It takes time for ArcView to create a new set. 10. Close out the box by clicking on the x in the uppper right corner of the box. 11.The road will now appear in yellow on your map. |

| 12. Click on Theme in the Menu Bar.
13. Click Convert to Shapefile. 14. Decide what drive and folder you will store the data in. 15. Name the file. 16. Click OK. The new file will appear on the legend at the left of the view. 17. Check it on 18. Click |

| 1. To see the data for the stream, click on Theme in
the Menu Bar.
2. Click on Properties |

| 3. Click on Text Label in the left of the box.
4. In the box to the right of the Label filed will say the selection name (i.e. Name), the same as in the data table. |
| 1. To Verify data, click on the Open Theme Table 2. Click on the Promote button |
| 1. To add this to the Legend as a shapefile, click on Theme
in the Menu Bar
2. Click on Convert to Shapefile. 3. Decide what drive and folder you will store the data in. 4. Name the file (8 characters maximum). 5. Click OK. The new file will appear on the legend at the left of the view. 6. Check it on to draw it on the map. 7. Click to clear the features selected (yellow) |
| To remove a set BEFORE you convert to shape file, click
on the Clear Selected Features button To remove a set AFTER you convert to shape file (remove shapefile). 1. Make sure the theme is active (raised). 2. Click Edit on Menu Bar 3. Click Delete Theme. 4. Click yes |
