Front Page Proficiency
(You might say - Front Page, from A-Z)

A. Create a template page to use for this assignment. (Look ahead to see what you will need to put on your template page.)

B.  Index page -Make a web page. Add and center the following text on your page using Times New Roman 30 pt font

                         Sample Project, for Tools for Development of Instruction

C. Add and right justify the following text, using Ariel 24: "This
text is 24 point in Ariel".

D. Add a 4 column by 2-row table. Center the table on the page and
make it 600 pixels wide. Make the table background white.

E. Make the first and last cells Hot pink.

F. Make the page background royal blue.

G. Insert pictures of your choice into two of the white cells. Make the pictures smaller to fit into the cell. Resize the pictures. Be sure all pictures are smaller than 43K, and have alternate text assigned to them.

H. Add a second table 4 column by 2-row table. Center the table on
the page and make it 800 pixels wide.

I. Make the table background green. Merge the first 2 columns and rows into 1 cell. Add a picture to a cell and make it a thumbnail.

J. Nest a 2x2 table into one of the "4" cells. Color one of the nested cells red.

K. Make a hyperlink to your portfolio on the (RST)² site (i.e. the
192.107.108.56 site).

L. Have the hyperlink open in a new frame.

M. Make a Bookmark by the word Sample project. Make a link to that bookmark. Use the words Back to Top for your link.

N. Make 2 column by 2-row table. Center the table on the page and
make it 600 pixels wide. Color each cell a different color. Make the
table borders "invisible" in preview.

O. At the bottom of the page type in and center the words; Date
created. Under that put the date you are creating the page.

P. Then center your Name and e-mail address under the date.Save page as index.htm.

Q. Demopage - Create a second page. Name it  demopage.htm. Add a background color or picture of your choice.

R. Create a table make it 100% of page width. Add a table background color or picture of your choice. Add graphics and text of your choice.

S. Create a hyperlink back to the index page and template page. Have the link open in a new frame. Change hyperlink colors so they are not the default colors. Below the table put the date you are creating the page. Then center your Name and e-mail address under the date.

T. Create a hyperlink on the index page to the demopage and template page. Have the link open in a new frame. Change hyperlink colors so they are not the default colors.

U. Then, ftp your pages to a folder called "devsample" in your portfolio. Hint: Be sure to ftp your pictures as well, or they will not show up in your page on the Internet, when viewed.
 

V. Make a link from your portfolio page to your proficiency in the devsample folder, so I can view it. Make the link "devsample" under the final project link on your portfolio page.

W. View your site on the web to be sure everything is working as intended..

X. Let me know when you have ftp'd your pages, so I can review them. Be sure you include the size of your project in your e-mail (how many K?).

 Y. After it is reviewed and approved, remove the  "devsample" link from your portfolio page.

Z. Remove the "devsample" folder from your portfolio on the server as well.

Note:  Remember complete your proficiency, have it reviewed, finalize template and have it BOBBI approved and finalize your project with Angela, before you "officially" begin working on your Masters Web site.
