MSET Baseline Assessment

Assignment # 2

This is an activity involving file management. Spend a few minutes determining the structure of the files on the disk. Then use the methods that you are most comfortable with to complete the tasks listed below

    1. Go into the “my projects” folder and delete the folder named “junk”
    2. Move the “pta” folder and the “lesson plans” folder into the “school related” folder
    3. Go into the “personal projects” folder located in the “my projects” folder
      1. Note that the “back to school night.doc” file does not belong in this folder. Move it to the “school related” folder in the “special projects” folder one level up.
      2. Note that the “mean people.doc” file does not belong in this folder either. Locate your “lists” folder and move this file to its new location.
    4. In “personal projects” create 3 new folders named “travel”, “plants”, and “book club”
    5. Move all files (within “personal projects”) into the appropriate folders
    6. Go back to the top level and move “travel numbers.doc” into the “travel” folder you created
    7. In the pictures folder Delete “copy of flowers1.jpg” and “zen of rock-climbing7.jpg”
    8. Then rename:
      1. “books4.jpg” to “books2.jpg”
      2. “beautiful flowers5.jpg” to “flowers4.jpg”
      3. “rock-climbing7.jpg to rock-climbing2.jpg”
    9. Make folders for each set of pictures (i.e. – “books”, “flowers”, and “rock-climbing”)
    10. Move the pictures into their appropriate folders.
    11. Find the “My Diary” folder and create a “2003” folder inside it.
    12. Open “fish dishes.doc” from the “recipes” folder
    13. Go to http://www.victoriapacking.com/fish.html
      1. Save the picture to the “pictures” folder on your floppy
(it does not belong inside any of the folders you created)
      2. Insert this picture into your word document under the title.
      3. From the web site, copy the first paragraph of text, (starting with “always…” and ending with “… conscious consumers.”) and paste it into your word document under the picture
      4. Save the file
